UMEME designed to madden

I reported a low hanging Electric Pole just outside my gate to the Umeme helpline.  Umeme staff showed up took down my connection wire saying it was dangerous and the low hanging pole was a grave danger to the public.  They then promised to send a team to fix the problem.  Now many days later I have no electricity in my house, the pole is still hanging low and to it is very live!  Consistent calls to them have elicited the same politely given answer "that is a very dangerous situation we will get the team assigned to rectify it immediately".  Meantime I continue to sit in darkness.  As if injury was not enough...  I met a team of their staff levelling a pole on my very road on Wednesday.  This pole was leaning less dangerously than the one outside my gate.  I told the hard working men as much and there was no interest from them whatsoever to see this other problem just a hundred meters or so from where they were working!  As far as they were concerned they had not been told about it and could only wait until they were told about it by their bosses!  So here I sit waiting for the next storm to drop the pole down and hope that should it kill someone in my home or in the neighbourhood, that Umeme's compensation will be worth the life lost!

To Blog or not to Blog? That was the question.

I have decided to delve into the world of floating information.  Inshallah it will be an enlightening experience.
